Chloe's guide to making new friends

Seven students, one free house, no plan. Full profiles on Cheng, Chloe, Sarah, Ant, Carlos, Frankie and The Gwen.

Cheng
The new kid

Cheng

Just moved to Sydney from Wee Waa and cannot convince a single person that Wee Waa is in New South Wales. Signed up for the international student induction by mistake, then gets adopted by a friend group he did not ask for.

“I am telling you I am not an international student.”

  • Played by Savas Savidis
  • From Wee Waa, New South Wales
  • Basketball and old Shaw Brothers kung fu films
  • Roommates with Ant and Carlos
  • Voted most likely to say he is leaving, then stay
Chloe
The talker

Chloe

Arrived from France with a suitcase of opinions. Plans to speak at the United Nations one day, and picked this university to build an understanding of the common people. Took her first ever Uber this morning and will tell you about it.

“You are not exactly the sophisticated kind.”

  • Played by Alisa Collet
  • From France, first time in a shared dorm
  • Wants to address the UN
  • Pen pals with Sarah for years
  • Has discovered the phrase no offence
The realist

Sarah

Worked three jobs through her last year of school, watched her marks slide, and landed here. Carries a family bottle of champagne she is saving for a big achievement, which is exactly the sort of thing that does not survive a party.

“Tonight is a special occasion.”

  • Played by Ashlee Lanza
  • Three jobs in year twelve
  • Guards one bottle of Avenue Foch champagne
  • Family famous for sharing one pair of pants
  • Kinder to everyone than she is to herself
Ant
The Stoner

Ant

Moved up from Melbourne and treats the dorm as a sanctuary. Convinced that an open house party is the fastest route to being friendly and approachable, and quietly convinced that someone is watching all of this from the other side of the screen.

“God, I love being friendly and approachable.”

  • Played by Ethan Wiggin
  • From Melbourne
  • Currently trialling a strain called help get me out of here
  • Roommates with Cheng and Carlos
  • Suspects there is a player behind the screen
Carlos
The Hippie

Carlos

Moved up from Melbourne with Ant, which is a longer story than he lets on. Plays guitar, argues that Sorry for Party Rocking is the most intellectual album ever recorded, and is here strictly for the university experience.

“There is nothing more intellectual than Sorry for Party Rocking.”

  • Played by Toby Nitural
  • From Melbourne, here for the experience
  • Guitar, and firm opinions about LMFAO
  • History with Ant, ask him about the doll
  • Yada yadas the important part
The nervous one

Frankie

Offers up their parents' empty house for the party, with exactly one condition: nobody breaks the family heirloom in the dining room. Stutters, burps when nervous, and apologises for everything, but under all of that is the angriest person in the room.

“I only asked one thing of you guys!”

  • Played by Levi Black
  • Burps when they get nervous
  • Family keeps strange heirlooms
  • Feels guilty about everything
  • Secretly the angriest in the room
The Cool Kid

The Gwen

Nobody on campus knows what she studies or where she came from. She rides a motorbike, thinks the rest of the group are losers, and will correct anyone who drops the “The”. The rumours say she has powers nobody can explain.

“It's The Gwen.”

  • Played by Maya Hadfield
  • Rides a motorbike
  • Too cool for the rest of the group
  • The “The” is part of her name
  • May have supernatural powers
